Many standard documents contain a terminology section (or clause) that contains definitions for terms used within the document.

This section is typically called “Terms and definitions” and is recognized by its section title. The designated name of this section differs per flavor, so please check documentation of the particular flavor being used.

Creating a terms and definitions section

It is important for a standards document to utilize terms unambiguously, and therefore typically it will contain a definitive terms and definition section.

Entering a terminology entry

To enter a terminology entry:

1. Start a new subsection under the "Terms and definitions" section.

2. The term (the "designation") is entered as this section’s heading.

3. The definition is entered as this section’s content.

Referencing a terminology entry

A citation to a terminology entry is called a "concept mention".

Concept mentions are entered using {{..}} double braces, where the content of the double braces is the term (the "designation") itself.
